New York—The Friends of Israel Sci-Tech Schools honored five prominent supporters for their commitment to the continuing science and technology education curriculum of the Israel Sci-Tech Schools Network on Feb. 25th at the Museum of Jewish Heritage.
Friends of Israel Sci-Tech Schools bestowed the Israel Sci-Tech Global Industry Award on Lockheed Martin’s Robert Eastman. Dr. Charlotte Frank received the organization’s Israel Education award. In addition, Trustees Dr. Lynne B. Harrison and Mark Levenfus, along with corporate sponsor Marks Paneth LLP were recognized for their work on behalf of the organization.
“Our American Friends group plays a very important role in the success of our programs throughout Israel. There has never been a greater need to further develop our young people in the sciences and technology to serve the growing need of industry in Israel,” said Israel Sci-Tech Schools Network Director General Zvi Peleg. “We are pleased to have honored five outstanding individuals and businesses who share our values and commitment to science and technology education. We are grateful to them for their support and commitment to our organization for many years.”
Robert Eastman is vice president of the Global Solutions line of business within the IS&GS-Defense & Intelligence Solutions Product Line at Lockheed Martin. In his current role with the company, he is responsible for growing the core international businesses within the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia and Middle East, while also leveraging differentiating factors of businesses into other worldwide emerging markets. Eastman has 30 years of experience in the space and intelligence sectors. Before joining Lockheed Martin, Eastman served eight years with the Central Intelligence Agency and the prior 11 years with the U.S. Air Force.
Israel Education award recipient, Dr. Charlotte Frank, is senior advisor for research and development at McGraw-Hill Education, and has received more than 70 awards for her contribution to education. A board member of Friends of Israel Sci-Tech Schools, Dr. Frank has been the keynote speaker at major forums comparing and contrasting school practices with the needs of the workforce for the 21st Century.
Friends of Israel Sci-Tech Schools Trustee, Dr. Lynne B Harrison is president of Harrison Research Laboratories, Inc., which tests products for safety and efficacy for major companies in the United States, Canada, Europe, Israel, South America, and the Asia-Pacific region. Active in Jewish communal affairs, Dr. Harrison is chair of the USA Space Israel Board. She was vice chair of Hillel International and named woman of the year in 2009. She is also an officer of the United Jewish Community Federation of Greater Metrowest (NJ).
Mark Levenfus, CPA, is managing partner at Marks Paneth LLP and also a trustee of the Friends of Israel Sci-Tech Schools. He has served as the president of the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies and is a member of the Board of Directors of K.I.D.S (Kids in Distressed Situations). In addition, Levenfus is also involved in UJA of Westchester and Israel Bonds.
Friends of Israel Sci-Tech Schools is a U.S.-based 501(c)3 dedicated to supporting the 206 institutions and 100,000 students that represent the largest independent network of science and technology educational institutions in Israel. Today, there are more than 500,000 alumni, many of whom have gone onto become senior leaders in the military, high tech entrepreneurs, as well as some of the top engineers and scientists in Israel.
