Israeli Mayoral Delegation Visits YU

(Courtesy of YU) Last month, a delegation of more than 30 Israeli mayors visited Yeshiva University’s Wilf Campus in Washington Heights to speak with YU President, Dr. Ari Berman about utilizing undergraduate education as a tool for promoting Jewish rootedness.

During a session with the mayors, Dr. Berman discussed YU’s central role in helping Jews from all backgrounds connect with their Jewish heritage, while equipping them with the skills necessary to be successful in the professional world. He also emphasized the roles that YU already plays in Israeli life and the ways in which the University will further enhance its Israel programming over the coming months and years, highlighting his recent meeting with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin and announcements of partnerships with several major Israeli universities.

“It was a true honor to meet with this distinguished group of Israeli mayors. The relationship between Yeshiva University and Israel has never been stronger, and we look forward to continued progress in the future,” said Dr. Berman.

The delegation of mayors also had an opportunity to meet with a group of former IDF soldiers currently enrolled at YU and hear a lecture in Hebrew from Rabbi Meir Goldwicht, the Joel and Maria Finkle Visiting Israeli Rosh Yeshiva at YU’s Mazer School of Talmudic Studies.
