Israel’s Biggest Problem Stems From Massive American Aid to Iran, Not Netanyahu

The Biden administration is openly distancing itself in its support of Israel and putting intense pressure on Israel in the way it’s conducting the Gaza War. I can’t think of any other case in modern times where the United States meddled so deeply into the affairs of a long-term ally and fellow democracy, even going beyond its military activities. It is now even exhibiting its intense displeasure with, and calling for a change in, Israeli government leadership. This interference is way over the top in international diplomatic circles. It is a continuation of the earlier Obama administration’s constant snubbing, criticisms and attempts at humiliating Netanyahu.

This behavior is a classic use of deflection, where the victim is made to look like the villain. The real culprit in Israel’s problem is the United States, not Netanyahu. At the beginning of Obama’s presidency in 2009, Iran was a second rate almost bankrupt state, with no nuclear capability and little international influence. During the Obama years, his administration pumped untold billions of dollars into Iran, building up its ability to fund terrorism and also develop a near nuclear capability. This massive support has continued under the Biden administration. Today, Iran has funded and armed numerous terrorist organizations and proxies throughout the region, and is on the verge of having functional nuclear weapons. It is now a full-fledged member of the “Axis of Evil” — Russia, China, Iran and North Korea.

This massive funding of Iran and building it into a world power represents a bigger existential threat to Israel than Netanyahu.
