Why is it that the U.N. and the U.S. liberal camp get to decide Israel’s sovereignty over its land?

The U.S. wasn’t attacked by the full Soviet-backed power of Egypt, Syria and Jordan in 1967 and 1973. Nor did it face the attack by five Arab countries before the ink was barely dry on the newborn Jewish partition of Palestine’s 1948 Declaration of Independence.

Jordan once took occupation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem while Egypt occupied Gaza. Did we forget that? Nobody asked either country to give back the territory. It was only after Israel was attacked once again during the Six-Day War that it took East Jerusalem, Gaza, the Golan Heights and the West Bank in battle, in its own defense. Hence the name Israel Defense Forces rather than Israel Occupation Forces.

After peace was made with Egypt in 1979, Israel removed its settlements from the Sinai and returned the desert to the Arab country. In 2005, the late PM Ariel Sharon decided enough was enough and resettled the thousands of Jews who had made Gaza their home, only to turn the strip into a Hamas and PIJ launching pad.

For economic and strategic, not to mention ancestral homeland, reasons, the West Bank or Judea and Samaria are Israel’s to determine, not John Kerry, not Bernie Sanders, not Elizabeth Warren and certainly not the very same Arab world that used those “occupied” territories to attack Israel when they held onto them.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and the Trump administration have decided that the truth is the truth, even when it hurts.

This is and should be Israel’s call, and should the PA want to co-exist peacefully, all the better.

But make no mistake about it: the land was won with the blood, sweat and tears of Israelis. It’s about time they get to decide its fate, not a Democratic presidential candidate nor a third-world U.N. council member.

It’s about time.
