Bunions!
When the great toe points toward the other toes. As we have all seen (especially at the pool!), it can be disfiguring and painful. When caught early the pain and deformity can be remedied with a change of shoe or pads. Certain severe cases will require surgery. In years past this would have involved extensive incision, scarring and immobilization. Utilizing new technology, mini incisions and mini plates and screws has minimized the trauma from these surgeries. As director of our foot and ankle division, I am constantly striving to offer the latest in advances for this and other conditions. Please contact us for a consultation or reach out to [email protected]. The accompanying pictures are of before and after from very recent surgeries. Who knows—you may not become a foot model, but going barefoot will be less traumatic!
