The Jewish Association for Developmental Disabilities (J-ADD), a non-profit, nonsectarian organization dedicated to helping all individuals with developmental disabilities and their families, will hold its Annual Walkathon on Sunday, October 26, 2014, 9:00 AM (rain or shine) at the Englewood Boat Basin recreational area in Englewood, NJ.
J-ADD serves over 1,000 families in Bergen and Passaic counties. The Agency provides respite care to families who have members with developmental disabilities living at home; housing for adults with developmental disabilities; and advocacy, community awareness, and holiday celebrations to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. In addition, J-ADD oversees the Fiddle Foundation Hotline, an online resource that links individuals on the autism spectrum with needed services nationwide.
This year’s walk is expected to be bigger and more successful than ever. The Walkathon will help the Agency raise needed funds in this era of state fiscal austerity in order to continue to provide and increase its high level of services to the community of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
There will be entertainment and refreshments provided for all participants, making this a truly fun and exciting family day. Everyone is welcomed to participate in the Walkathon and can find out more by going to J-ADD’s website at www.J-ADD.org or by calling (201) 457-0058, ext. 13.
