(Courtesy of J-ADD) The Jewish Association for Developmental Disabilities (J-ADD) will hold its 20th Annual Walk-a-Thon on Sunday, September 9. All proceeds from the Walk will benefit J-ADD’s work to help enhance the quality of life for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities, with a special emphasis on reinvigorating the “Flowers by J-ADD” program.
The family-friendly walk will take place at Van Saun Park, Pavilion I, in Paramus and feature a carnival atmosphere, with music, games, prizes, refreshments and activities for all ages. Registration begins at 10 a.m. Enjoy the easy, flat course winding through beautiful Van Saun Park as the trees burst with autumn colors.
“J-ADD works to provide people with intellectual and developmental disabilities full lives of dignity, value and respect,” said J-ADD Executive Director Dr. John Winer. “This annual walk is an important fundraiser. It is also an opportunity to stand with this vulnerable population and demonstrate that they deserve to be fully included in the community.”
J-ADD’s community living programs are Jewishly observant and open to all those in need. J-ADD runs homes and supportive living apartments in Bergen County for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities from all backgrounds. J-ADD’s professional staff teaches the individuals they serve to live productive and independent lives based on their individual goals and desires, while living in the community.
Registration fee: $20 for adults, $10 for seniors, and free for youth up to 18 years old. Fundraising can be used to cover the cost of the registration fee.
