Jasmine Lelong Wins 15th Annual Teaneck Teen Idol Contest

Tyson Sanders and Hannah Weisz are first and second runners up.

Thirteen finalists for Teaneck Teen Idol sang before a large, supportive audience of families, students and adults Saturday night, February 8, at Teaneck High School. Anthony Johnson of ABC Channel 7 Eyewitness News hosted the evening and Reggie Bennet, Kahlil Daniel, Jackie Kates and Jeremy Lentz comprised the panel of judges.

The judges picked five top finalists: Alexander Cooper, 13, Tracy John, 16, Jasmine Loleng, 16, Tyson Sanders, 16, and Hannah Weisz, 13.

Jasmine Lelong, a junior at Teaneck High School, was voted the 2020 Teaneck Teen Idol, winning $250, a free recording session at Hobo Audio in NYC and opportunities to perform with the chorus. Cash prizes also went to Tyson Sanders, a sophomore at Teaneck High who was runner up, and Hannah Weisz, an eighth grader at Solomon Schechter Day School who was second runner up.

“It’s wonderful to win, but it’s also great to be around all the talent and cheer for the other kids,” said Lelong.
