JCC MetroWest Announces New Memory Center

(Courtesy of JCC MetroWest) JCC MetroWest announces a new memory center for seniors with moderate memory impairment. The new memory center will open with invaluable assistance from the Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey, which generously granted $294,739 to JCC MetroWest for this purpose. This gift represents one of the Foundation’s first multi-year grants given under a new HFNJ pilot program to provide multi-year funding. The new yet-to-be-named Memory Center joins JCC MetroWest’s current adult day program, the Littman Memory Center, in providing memory care of the highest quality to a diverse group of seniors in the MetroWest community.

The JCC Metrowest Littman Memory Center has been in existence for over six years, providing care to seniors with mild memory impairment. Sadly, the need for support for those with more advanced memory impairment and respite for their caregivers continues to increase. As a result of the generosity of the Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey, JCC Metrowest will now be opening an additional memory center geared to the needs of individuals with moderate memory impairment, and will provide respite and support for their caregivers.

To date, there has been no next step for participants of the Littman Memory Center as their memory declines, or for others seeking a program for those with moderate memory impairment.

This new program will take place three days per week. Participants will additionally benefit from the Essex County Kosher Congregate Nutrition Program and enjoy entertainment with the JCC MetroWest senior community. The new memory center will join the Littman Memory Center in being open to all community members who qualify, regardless of religious affiliation.

As it has become abundantly clear that there is additional need for services for seniors of the MetroWest community, JCC Metrowest extends their gratitude to the Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey for enabling essential programming for this population with the creation of an additional memory center.
