The MetroWest JCC is currently hosting a few Essex County families from the Interfaith Hospitality Network through Sunday, December 20, in partnership with Temple B’nai Abraham and Temple Emanu-el of West Essex. These are families who, due to unforeseen circumstances, currently find themselves temporarily without a home.
The JCC’s Mitzvah Moments committee worked in collaboration with these two synagogues to get ready for this mitzvah project. Last year, the families came for one day to play in the gym, work out in the fitness center, use the locker rooms and have fun at the JCC. The families and volunteers all had a great time. This year, the families are actually staying at the JCC for a week. There are some wonderful opportunities for adults and children to volunteer—opportunities to cook meals, shop for the guests, spend time with them during designated shifts or donate money or a ShopRite gift card. Volunteers are always needed, so any help that can be provided would be greatly appreciated. This is a truly beautiful way for the community to come together to help out those in need during this holiday season.
