JEC students spent the week davening, writing letters and giving tzedakah for Israel. The day began with Morning Greet where teachers added Israeli trivia and “Acheinu” to the usual lineup of songs, divrei Torah and chizuk, the Pledge of Allegiance and daily updates. JEC instituted an “Amen Train,” where students are asked to make a bracha out loud with others present who can say “amen” while keeping Israel in mind. Students started to collect tzedaka in the merit of Israel’s safety. Fourth and fifth graders have added special tefillos to Mincha each day. They participated in an inter-school tefillah program where they united in prayer for Eretz Yisrael. Students marked Rosh Chodesh Cheshvan with an Israel-related chesed project and spent time writing letters to chayalim to express hakaras hatov for their efforts during this time. Everyone at JEC is so proud of the students and their commitment to Am Yisrael. May Hashem continue to watch over us all.
