JEC Boasts Budding Designers

Elizabeth—The Jewish Educational Center’s 4th and 5th grade grade girls and boys participated in an art competition with art director Mrs. Charlotte Rakovsky. Students were asked to design a postage stamp using pencil and water color paint. They were asked to pick a country (most picked Israel or USA) and to paint suitable scenery for their chosen countries. They learned that stamps have different monetary values. The students looked up different currencies and came up with an appropriate and realistic sum for their stamps. The entire class did an absolutely wonderful job!

The winners of the contest are: Yosef Heller, Shuey Abraham, Gavi Ness, Ayala Milstein and Leba Mayefsky. They were chosen based on originality, neatness, color, balance and design.

Each winner received an art set courtesy of Mrs. Rakovsky.
