What a special way to capitalize on a teachable moment and recognize community helpers! Early in October, a rainstorm brought a tree down on an Elmora Avenue power line, right near the JEC building. The fire department personnel working at the site were so grateful to their wonderful visitors, the JEC Primer children. The children brought the community workers water to drink and beautiful thank you cards, as an expression of hakarat hatov. The very next week, the JEC Kindergarten classes went to visit the fire station in conjunction with their fabulous fantastic study of the letter F. They explored the fire truck, sprayed the fire hoses and toured the fire station.
