JEC Early Childhood Bakes Challah

Brachot are a perfect lens through which children can learn—they explore the food we eat, where it comes from, and Hashem’s role in the world. JEC Early Childhood students understand and appreciate each and every bracha we say by exploring the process of how we come to have those foods. This week, the children learned all about the bracha of hamotzi and how Hashem brings forth bread from the ground to the table. To kick off this brachot unit, the children enjoyed a special early childhood challah bake! Each child rolled three pieces of dough into ropes, and then, aided by an interactive story, braided the dough into challah. Early Childhood Shabbat tables were graced with fresh homemade challah and each child was able to say the bracha with true kavana.
