Faculty and administrators of The JEC Lower School participated in computer-based training last week, led by Marsha Thompson, on DIBELS Next, which is an assessment used to measure the acquisition of early literacy skills from kindergarten through the sixth grade. This is one of the new professional development initiatives brought to the school by Minna H. Heilpern, the JEC’s new director of professional development. All three divisions of the Jewish Educational Center—The JEC Lower School, Rav Teitz Mesivta Academy and Bruriah High School— offer an impressive roster of professional development opportunities over the course of the year and benefit from the collaboration between divisions and the stewardship of Ms. Heilpern.
