Last Thursday, HAFTR hosted the annual Yeshiva League Model Congress in which 14 tri-state area schools convened to participate in a day of bill writing and promotion.
JEC students have been working for months, crafting bills to propose before their committees, spanning topics from spending to ethics. Their hard work was finally rewarded as they presented their legislation, debated the merits and costs of their ideas, defended their own bills and spoke on behalf of—or in opposition to—those of other committees. JEC was well represented and recognized with two awards, with Yishai Mandel (Housing and Urban development) and Gav Meiri (Appropriations) winning the titles of Best Delegate in each of their committees. This is Mandel’s second consecutive designation and Meiri’s third.
