The JEC Thunder opened their soccer season with an exciting matchup against the MTA Lions.
The game started strong for JEC as freshman Jacob Springer found the back of the net early, putting the Thunder up 1-0. MTA quickly responded, leveling the score at 1-1, but JEC didn’t let up. Eli Bekor fired one past the keeper to regain the lead, making it 2-1. Before halftime, Springer struck again, extending JEC’s advantage to 3-1 at the break.
JEC kept their momentum going in the second half. Leo Weinstock got in on the action, scoring to push the lead to 4-1. MTA fought back, cutting the deficit to 4-2, but Weinstock wasn’t done yet, netting another goal to make it 5-2. MTA managed to sneak in a late goal, but it wasn’t enough to mount a comeback. The final whistle blew with JEC securing a well-earned 5-3 victory.
