This week The Jewish Educational Center released its brand new newspaper-format publication with a robust inaugural 24 page issue.
The publication, which remains unnamed pending the results of a public contest calling for suggestions, will be put out by the school monthly and has been received so far with broad and enthusiastic accolades. “We love reading about all of the exciting things going on in other divisions,” said one faculty member. “Even though we are one school, there is so much happening that it is wonderful to read about them and learn new things.”
Indeed, that is one of the driving forces behind the publication. As a school that spans three divisions with varying ages and multiple demographics and geography, the paper aims to inform and educate parents, faculty, students and friends of the goings-on within the school, although, according to one of the editors, the articles “represent just a small fraction of all the educational, developmental and fun things happening every day in the classrooms, lunchrooms, gyms, offices and hallways throughout our buildings and campuses,” as there are so many.
The timeless words “Learn Torah, Love Torah, Live Torah,” grace the front page of the publication because those words best articulate the life and mission of the JEC’s illustrious founder Rav Pinchas Mordechai Teitz zt’l and what he envisioned for the institution and greater communities.
The paper is open to suggestions and ideas moving forward. For more information, please write to [email protected].
