The JEC Lower School celebrated Tu B’Shevat with lots of exciting programming. Early childhood students enjoyed a special Tu B’Shevat sing-along. Morah Lani read a Tu B’Shevat story and the children sang special Tu B’ Shevat songs. Later in the day, early childhood enjoyed a wonderful program where they sang and danced to an interactive tree song, decorated beautiful leaves for the “Power of Growth” bulletin board, and in conjunction with their bracha of the week, בורא פרי העץ, ate delicious fruit. First, second and third graders had a birthday celebration for the אילנות where they played ברכות bingo. They practiced the order of the ברכות while playing this hands-on game. Students also wrote wishes for ארץ ישראל and the trees. All elementary school students enjoyed a delicious fruit bar (with whipped cream) and tree themed cupcakes at lunch. Fourth and fifth grade students later walked to JFS, where they learned about the community garden. They planted vegetables that will later be transferred to the garden and then distributed to families in need.
