JEC Lower School Hosts Grandparents Day

The JEC Lower School had an amazing Shabbos themed Grandparents Day! The room was adorned with a student art gallery. Students created unique art and creative writing pieces focusing on the theme of Shabbos and tradition. Students and grandparents in juniors through fifth, participated in a beautiful oneg led by Shlomo Golombeck. Elementary school students learned b’chavrusa with their grandparents! With the theme of the year, Baruch Hashem, in mind, they were provided with grade appropriate learning packets focusing on brachos. The lower elementary school packet discussed ideas of blessings as they relate to Shabbos and the older elementary school packet focused on the topic of brachos as they relate to Parshas Lech Lecha. It was inspiring to see the multigenerational learning filling the room. The learning was dedicated in the merit of our brothers and sisters in Israel.

Grandparents received beautiful Havdala candles and besamim with the message of spreading the light from generation to generation. The Erev Shabbos experience in the lower school is extremely meaningful and unique. Weekly pre-Shabbos ruach, kumzitz, Parsha and Pop and monthly onegs are just some of the special programs that fill the weeks with a connection to Shabbos. It was wonderful to share a little bit of the Erev Shabbos magic JEC students experience each week with their grandparents.
