JEC Middle and High Schools Kick Off Big Brother Program

The newly implemented Big Brother program is an exciting opportunity for JEC Middle School students. Each boy has been paired up with a junior from JEC High School, who serves as a positive influence during these highly structured and supervised experiences. The program consists of five to eight meetings, which include a lunch outing on the avenue, an anti-bullying workshop, team building exercises and an arts project that will illustrate the value of emotional awareness. The program is fun and engaging for the “younger brothers” who appreciate the extra attention and engaging activities, and meaningful for the high school students who have the opportunity to serve as positive role models for the younger students. The program is overseen by Dr. Akiva Perlman, director of guidance for the JEC, and has already yielded fantastic feedback from many students.
