Excited to taste the delicious flavors of pomegranate seeds, dates and figs, JEC middle school students gathered to celebrate Tu B’Shevat. To begin the program, Rabbi Beer shared a story about the star that resides inside each and every apple. Even though the stature of an apple tree is not dominant or overly impressive, its value and impact are priceless. The schmooze continued to reflect on the many different brachot present at the seder and the order in which they are said. The focus was on why we say brachot and how through brachot, our relationship and connection to Hashem is stronger. The students were engaged in the discussion and enjoyed the many different foods that adorned their Tu B’Shevat seder.
