JEC Middle School Hosts Father-Son Yom Iyun

How amazing it is when parents use their vacation day to learn with their children! The annual JEC yom iyun, which took place this Wednesday, was a chance for parents to enjoy nachat while learning with their sons. The day began with a beautiful Chanukah davening. A hearty breakfast was enjoyed by all, culminating with exciting raffles and a dvar Torah from Rabbi Beer. Parents then joined their sons’ respective Gemara classes to get a taste of the passionate Torah learning that the boys experience every day. The program continued with the most inspiring part: Pirkei Avot was divided between the grades as fathers and sons learned b’chavruta. The sounds of Torah emanating from the beit midrash could be heard down the hall. Rabbi Pomper concluded the day’s program with a message of how the everlasting transmission of Torah from father to son is the true lasting miracle of Chanukah. The day was enjoyable, educational and inspirational for all.
