This past week, JEC’s fourth grade had an opportunity to visit the OU headquarters in Manhattan. They had the privilege of meeting with Rabbi Menachem Genack, the CEO of the OU. He discussed some important halachic matters that go into making kashrut decisions. The classes also had the distinct privilege of seeing a live presentation on the kashrut of fish. Rabbi Goldberg showed the class different kinds of fish and how a person can determine if that fish is kosher. It was enlightening and enjoyed by all.
The fourth grade then went to the National Museum of Mathematics. In this fascinating hands on museum, the students learned how to form the proper arch in order to get the basketball in the basket, math square and many other math concepts. The children also enjoyed an interesting presentation on the creation of knots.
