When studying science, children are really learning about the abstract concepts that surround them in concrete ways. In the JEC Middle School, sixth graders used scales and meter sticks to understand the difference between mass and volume, and then explored the density of different liquids relative to water. The boys now have a new way of explaining the difference between Vanilla Coke and Vanilla Coke Zero—the difference in density!
