In conjunction with their study of the 13 colonies and Thanksgiving, the boys in Mrs. Taub’s 5B class, used the design process to build their own Mayflower inspired boats. They researched the ideas of buoyancy and displacement and used what they learned to help them in the challenge. They were given specific materials and needed to meet time constraints. After their boats were built, they set sail to see which boat could hold the most passengers.
