JEC fourth and fifth grade students participated in an experiential workshop on Monday led by a Yachad representative as a continuation of the unit on Inclusion and Diversity. This workshop allowed for some of the topics already discussed in their classrooms and previous workshop, e.g. kindness to all, taking perspective and empathy, to come to life through multiple exercises that involved inhibiting some ability. Classes discussed perspective differences for those who have overt versus covert disabilities and the need to treat all with respect and kindness from the get-go since one never knows what someone is going through.
