Jennie Mohl is a seasoned art consultant, specializing in Israeli and Judaic art. After working for an Israeli art importer and a Jewish art gallery, she realized that she wanted to personally select the artists she wished to feature in order to procure beautiful, tasteful and appropriate pieces for the needs and interests of her clients.
“Helping clients find a beautiful piece that an entire family can enjoy is always my goal,” she said. “I strive to have an assortment of styles, themes and price points so that there is something for everyone.” For the past several years Mohl has worked with clients as an art consultant. “Many people suggested that I open a gallery, so I finally took the plunge and decided it was time.” Hence the launch of JennieMohlconsulting.com, with the exciting opening of her bricks-and-mortar gallery located at 198 The Plaza in Teaneck.
“Two weeks ago we had a successful event to support a business and tzedaka in Tzfat,” Mohl said. “I hope to do more events like that in the future. Israel always needs our support. The Israeli art world depends so much on tourism. Unfortunately, the tourist trade in Israel is suffering since the horrific events of October 7th as the war rages on. I feel a compelling responsibility to support the artists I work with.”
Mohl is thrilled that the response from visitors has been extremely positive. A few commented that they felt they had been transported to Israel when they stepped through the door. Another said he’d been to many galleries, and never saw so many pieces he could see himself hanging in his home. “Right now more than 20 Israeli artists are represented in the gallery. It feels good to bring a little bit of Israel to the Bergen County community.
“Every client is unique. Whether it’s their first venture into purchasing artwork, or someone is a seasoned art collector, my goal is to help you find that perfect piece of artwork for your home.”
Mohl’s first step is getting to know a client in order to learn about their interests, taste and preferences. “We will discuss the space, likes and dislikes, and budget. Sometimes a client knows exactly what they are looking for. Then it becomes my job to procure it.”
However, and more often than not, a client does not know where to begin.
“We continue to visit, and I am there to help with every step along the way.”
Because she works with an incredible community of artists and liaisons to source and sometimes commission custom works, Mohl is astute at matching her clients with the art they love within their budget requirements.
“The art-buying process can be challenging. I opened the gallery with the goal of highly individualized attention to each client and to facilitate giving them the attention they deserve. It is also very important to me to be fully transparent with both my artists and my clients. In this way, everyone benefits, but especially the client.”
Mohl looks forward to continuing her enduring bonds with current artists and buyers, and to engaging with new clients as well.
