Jewish Basketball Star Zack Rosen Comes to MTA

On Wednesday, June 3, Zack Rosen, 2012 Ivy League Player of the Year and current star of the Maccabi Ashdod Basketball Club, visited the Marsha Stern Talmudical Academy/ Yeshiva University High School for Boys (MTA). Zack had already become a part of the MTA family, having skyped with Rabbi Beitler’s shiur earlier in the year.

After spending some time in various shiurim, Zack held an open clinic for students in the Max Stern Athletic Center—YU’s NCAA court—astonishing everyone with his incredible talent. Although the MTA junior varsity and varsity players felt fairly experienced before his arrival, Rosen, a former point guard for University of Pennsylvania, was able to show every student in attendance at least a few moves that would ratchet up the level of his game.

For students interested in basketball training, Zack will be running a special one-week basketball program this summer, along with MTA’s own Rebbeim Rabbi Beitler and Rabbi Kessel, as well as MTA coaches Shlomo Weissberg and Yisrael Feld (‘11).
