Jewish Family Service of MetroWest Celebrates the Lives of Survivors at Holocaust Survivor Day

JFS Holocaust Survivor Day featuring Carolyn Enger, international concert pianist and Steinway artist.

On June 4, Jewish Family Service of MetroWest NJ (JFSMW) and Jewish Family Service of Central NJ (JFSCNJ) honored the community’s Holocaust survivors with a celebration for Holocaust Survivor Day. Over 80 survivors, second-generation children and caregivers enjoyed an intergenerational sing-a-long with students from the Mickey Fried Nursery School at Congregation Oheb Shalom in South Orange.

Holocaust Survivor Day is a yearly event that celebrates survivors and their resilience and provides us with the opportunity to thank them for their contributions and the lessons they teach our future generations.

“Now more than ever, it’s important for us to come together to recognize and honor the lives of the Holocaust survivors who represent the strength of our community,” stated Liz Levy, LCSW, director of Holocaust Services at JFSMW.

The attendees enjoyed “Lyricism Then and Now” with Carolyn Enger, international concert pianist and Steinway artist. Each survivor was given a plant to recognize their lives and resiliency.
