(Courtesy of JFS MetroWest) Jewish Family Service of MetroWest NJ is pleased to offer a variety of support groups this spring, both virtually and in person. Support groups provide an opportunity for people with similar personal experiences to express feelings and share coping strategies with professional guidance.
Groups are valuable as they provide individuals with a common need, concern or experience a place to share and support each other under the guidance and skill of an experienced, empathetic, licensed professional therapist. Groups can be effectively utilized in addition to other counseling services or independently. JFS offers group counseling and support groups in the JFS offices as well as in community venues, including local synagogues and schools.

A Journey Through Grief—Bereavement group for older adults who have lost a spouse or significant other. Tuesdays, 1 p.m.-2:15 p.m., beginning April 26 at the Florham Park office. Spousal Bereavement Support Group—Bereavement group for adults under age 65 who have lost a spouse or significant other within the last five years. You Glow, Girl—Small, supportive group for girls ages 11 to 14. Wednesdays, 5 p.m.-6 p.m. beginning May 18, virtually. For more information and to register, contact Gabriela at [email protected] 973-637-1745. Most major insurances accepted.
Women in Transition—Therapeutic support group for women over 60 years old considering retirement or recently retired. Thursdays,7 p.m.-8:15 p.m., beginning June 1, virtually. For more information and to register, contact Zsofia at [email protected] or (973) 637-1786. Most major insurances accepted.
Happily Even After, Beyond Separation and Divorce—Divorce support group. Tuesdays, 7 p.m. -8:15 p.m., beginning April 19, virtually. For more information and to register, contact Daphne at [email protected] or 973-637-1758. Most major insurances accepted.
Playgroup With a Purpose—Ongoing weekly group for parents with their babies (up to 16 months old) to share and connect. In collaboration with Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel. Caregiver Support—For adults caring for a loved one over the age of 60. Meeting monthly on Mondays, 1:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. beginning on May 9, virtually. For more information and to register, contact Jeanne at [email protected] or 973-637-1748. No cost to join.
Alzheimer’s New Jersey Family Support Groups—Support groups that provide families and caregivers with the emotional support and education they need to better understand Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
