Ruth Kroll was a dedicated and active member of the Highland Park Jewish community who passed away in an untimely fashion. Her family, in conjunction with the Jewish Federation in the Heart of New Jersey (serving Middlesex and Monmouth Jewish communities), have created a scholarship to perpetuate the values Kroll embodied.
The Ruth Kroll Scholarship Award recognizes young Jewish women (ages 16-19) who make a difference in their community. The judges are looking for candidates with a history of consistent volunteer activity over an extended period of time. Applicants must be Jewish women 16-19 years old, residing in Middlesex or Monmouth county, attending a high school or vocational school or college in New Jersey, and have demonstrated an extended commitment to tikkun olam (repairing the world) without compensation.
The simple application asks for two short essays and takes 10 minutes to complete. The four-figure scholarship can be used by the recipient for education or philanthropy. Applications are due by Friday, January 13, and winners will be selected by June 1, 2023.
