Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest Puts Out Community Call to Action

In times of uncertainty, we know that we are greater together. We’re seeing directly and indirectly through images shared on social media the unfortunate impact COVID-19 is having on our lifestyle, basic needs and social behavior, not only in our community, but across the country and the world. This isn’t a small group of people being impacted; we are all impacted. Many of us will be able to check our social media channels, make our way to a low stocked grocery store, or speak with family members frequently feeling a sense of companionship. These moments, however, are more difficult to come by for some of our most vulnerable community members who simply need their basic human needs met. That’s where Federation comes in.

We have a call to action: help ensure those who are not getting their basic human needs met can and will. Federation has had their eyes and ears on the ground in the community. Because of this quick action, we’ve been able to assess the dire needs of our community quickly and efficiently.

Here’s what we have heard are our community’s top needs right now:

Address the exponentially higher need for groceries and food, including kosher goods for the elderly, people in financial distress and those who are physically isolated.

Help ensure those currently receiving or in need of mental health counseling can access a licensed counselor.

Provide financial support to allow for continuous coverage of home care workers in Jewish homes of older adults who require extra assistance in staying safe.

As we continue to learn where the greatest needs are, we want you to know that you can make a difference right now.

How can you help? Our call to action:

Volunteer: Each day more volunteer opportunities are becoming available to connect those in need with those who are ready, willing and able to lend a helping hand (even virtually). Sign up now to volunteer and one of our Federation professionals will be in touch.

Sign Up: Add to our emergency reserves of the Annual Campaign. Your financial support allows us to meet the evolving needs of our community that will arise throughout this period of physical distancing and isolation.

Support Your Community: The support Federation is providing today is support we provide all year long. This crisis is now, but Federation is forever. We want to ensure the long-term health and sustainability of our agencies and support for our broader community.

Join us today to make a lasting impact. Join us to save lives.
