The American Jewish Experience Lecture Series, a program of the Jewish Historical Society of Central Jersey, invites community members to a presentation by Dr. Marcia Midler on “Gertrude Berg: Broadcasting Pioneer/Creator of Molly Goldberg; The Original Jewish Mother.” The lecture will be held on Wednesday, October 23, at 10:30 a.m. at the Highland Park Conservative Temple. A donation of $2 is requested at the door.

Gertrude Berg, “Molly” of “The Goldbergs,” was the creative force behind the “Goldbergs” media empire that spanned over 30 years. She raised millions of dollars selling war bonds and writing scripts supporting the war effort. Hear why the most famous female writer/performer and beloved media character of their time remains largely unknown today.
