Ushers in a new era of elder-centered care.
(Courtesy of The Jewish Home Family) The Jewish Home Family proudly announces the official reopening of Green House homes at the Jewish Home at Rockleigh, a transformative step forward in elder care that brings dignity, autonomy and a true sense of home to residents.
This launch was celebrated with a series of tours showcasing the beautifully renovated Seiden unit, now reimagined as two distinct Green House households. Families, staff, elders, volunteers and community members were welcomed to experience the warmth, innovation and purpose of the new environment.
The Green House model represents a fundamental shift from traditional institutional care to a more personalized, elder-directed approach. In these homes, elders live in private rooms with full bathrooms, enjoy shared meals with staff, and engage in daily activities that bring meaning and joy. On any given day, elders might be found baking cookies while enjoying a Barbra Streisand concert or dancing to lively music with team members.
“Moving day was nothing short of magical,” said Carol Silver Elliott, president and CEO of the Jewish Home Family. “Seeing our elders and their families experience these homes for the first time was incredibly emotional. One family member called it “magic,” another thanked us for bringing a new level of dignity to all families. This is more than a renovation, it’s a transformation of how we care for those who once cared for us. I couldn’t be prouder of our team and the commitment they’ve shown in making this dream a reality.”
The core values of the Green House model—meaningful life, empowered staff and real home—are evident throughout the new space. Staff members are empowered to form close, collaborative relationships with residents, while elders are encouraged to direct their care, pursue interests and live with purpose.
This innovative care model has been years in the making at Jewish Home Family and its successful implementation marks a pivotal moment for the organization. The reimagined Seiden unit is just the beginning, as Jewish Home Family plans to continue evolving and expanding this elder-first approach.
The Jewish Home Family invites community members and families to visit and witness firsthand the difference this revolutionary model is making in the lives of elders and caregivers alike. Call 201.784.1414 or visit the website at www.jewishhomefamily.org for more information.
