The Jewish Home Family is launching a support group for those with a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease, their families and caregivers.
The group will meet at the Jewish Home at Rockleigh on the third Thursday of every month. The first meeting will take place on December 15 at 10:30 a.m. The support group is open to all, regardless of religion.
The Jewish Home Family is developing a Center of Excellence in the Care of Parkinson’s, recognizing both the prevalence of this disease and the special needs of these patients.
“We believe that this is an important new initiative for the Jewish Home Family as we continue to understand and meet the needs of our residents and the community,” says Jewish Home Family President and CEO Carol Silver Elliott. “We know that Parkinson’s disease affects not only individuals but also their families and we want to be here to support them and provide outstanding care and services.”
The Jewish Home Family, together with the Michael J. Fox Foundation and Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, is also inviting the public to attend a lecture entitled, “Is Parkinson’s a Jewish Genetic Disease?” taking place on December 12 at 7 p.m. at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center.
