The Jewish Home Family has been recognized with two statewide awards presented by LeadingAge New Jersey for programs at the Jewish Home Assisted Living in River Vale and SeniorHaven for the Prevention of Elder Abuse—the Jewish Home’s elder abuse shelter and prevention program. LeadingAge New Jersey is the statewide association of not-for-profit senior care organizations and is dedicated to advancing quality aging services in New Jersey through advocacy, education and fellowship.

The Excellence in Innovation award was given for Jewish Home Assisted Living’s new short-term IV therapy program. “The ability to administer short term IVs for antibiotics or hydration is a huge boon to our residents,” explains President and CEO Carol Silver Elliott. “It eliminates the need for transfer as well as the associated expense and trauma that go along with it. We are the first assisted living in the state to be certified to provide this program and it is a great accomplishment and a huge credit to JHAL Executive Director Lauren Levant and her team.”

The second award was for Excellence in Community Service and was granted to the elder abuse shelter the Jewish Home has opened—the first and only in the state of New Jersey.

“Elder abuse prevention certainly includes shelter, but our goal is to educate, help both professionals and lay people recognize elder abuse and give them the tools they need to intervene,” Silver Elliott says. “Our goal is that every adult age safely and with the dignity and respect that they deserve. It is always nice to be recognized and we are very proud of our team.”

The awards were presented at a ceremony in Monroe Township.
