Jewish National Fund (JNF) is pleased to announce that Bruce Pomerantz has been named president of the Northern New Jersey Board of Directors. Pomerantz’s appointment comes at a critical time in Israel’s history, when support for Israel is as crucial as ever and JNF’s lay leadership and professional team are diligently working on the implementation stage of their $1 Billion Road Map for the Next Decade campaign. Pomerantz will be instrumental in helping JNF connect New Jersey to the people and land of Israel, and execute unique projects to strengthen Israel for the long-term.
“I am honored to serve JNF in this exciting, new capacity,” says Pomerantz. “I hope to bring visibility to all the great work done by JNF to the forefront so that people truly understand the depth and breadth of how they are positively affecting the lives of Israelis. JNF is fulfilling extraordinary goals in developing regions outside the major cities by bringing in healthcare facilities, parks, recreation sites, water, and safe environments to many populations. I want to help ensure that its goals continue to be met.”
Pomerantz became involved with JNF seven years ago after attending and receiving a diploma from the Melton School. He credits this experience for sparking his love for the Jewish NGO world. He is currently a member of the Library Board at the Jewish Theological Seminary, a board member of the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs, Northern New Jersey Chapter, and served as a member of the board at Temple Emanu-El for 10 years.
Pomerantz has been a volunteer juvenile judge under the umbrella of the Juvenile Conference Committee, which is an arm of the Superior Court of the State of New Jersey, for the past 18 years. Professionally, he is the CEO and president of GreenSmash Denim, an innovative company which makes denim fabric in the U.S. from recycled water/soda bottles, used cotton, spandex and wood pulp.
Northern New Jersey Director Jocelyn Inglis shared: “The leadership of JNF is thrilled to have Bruce, and his impressive capabilities and passion for Israel, as the president of our Northern New Jersey Board. We are excited to accomplish great things together for Israel.”
