Jewish School in the UK Faces Closure for Not Teaching About Transgenderism

(JLNJ Staff) Vishnitz Girls School, an independent Orthodox Jewish primary school located in Hackney, North London, teaches approximately 212 girls from the ages of 3 to 11. On May 10, the school failed its third Ofsted inspection because they do not teach their students about LGBTQ issues; Ofsted (the Office for Standards in Education) determined that this goes against England’s 2010 “equality” legislation.

“They cover all the required areas of learning for the proposed increase in age range,,” the Ofsted report said. “However, schemes do not pay enough regard to developing respect and tolerance for those who may have protected characteristics as set out in the 2010 Equality Act.”

“Pupils are not taught explicitly about issues such as sexual orientation. This restricts pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and does not promote equality of opportunity in ways that take account of differing lifestyles,” the report continues. “As a result, pupils are not able to gain a full understanding of fundamental British values.”

Vishnitz Girls School’s goal is to provide their students with a high-quality education that is strongly based on the principles of the Torah, but also combined with a strong secular curriculum.

Even though independent/fee-paying schools like Vishnitz are not obligated to follow the same curriculum as mainstream state schools, the Department for Education and Ofsted still requires them to meet two separate sets of standards for sex and relationships education.

Vishnitz Girls School is one of seven known to have failed Ofsted inspections within recent weeks.
