Jews Need to Up Their Game Against Antisemitism

I agree completely with letter writer Mark Rosenberg (“The Best Way for Jewish Schools to Support Israel,” Dec 18, 2023) that American Jews need to do a better job of fighting antisemitism. His suggestions are excellent.

In addition to political advocacy, Jews should consider giving financial support to the re-election campaigns of sitting congress members and candidates who are strong supporters of Israel and of Jewish concerns. But the funds should be given only through pro-Israel PACs so that the recipient knows why the funds were contributed.

It’s easy to contribute online via AIPACPAC.org (bipartisan), NORPAC.net (bipartisan), Portal.RJCPAC.com (supports only Republicans), or DMFIPAC.org/candidates (supports only Democrats).

Regarding reporting antisemitic incidents or crimes, I agree that all should be reported to the local police. However, one should consider, in addition, reporting them to an advocacy organization such as StandWithUs.com, which may be able to pursue the complaint more thoroughly than the police and may be able to pursue a civil case in addition to the criminal case.

Lastly, when antisemites are brought to court the Jewish community should show up in court in large numbers so that the district attorney and the judge understand that the community takes these crimes very seriously and wants them to be prosecuted and sentenced to the full extent of the law.
