JFCS Celebrates at Annual Gala

(Courtesy of JFCS) Jewish Family & Children’s Services of Northern New Jersey (JFCS) hosted its Annual Gala on Sunday, November 17, at Edgewood Country Club in River Vale, New Jersey. With over 350 members of the community in attendance, it was a wonderful evening honoring JFCS and its most loyal supporters.

Those honorees included

Diane Seiden, a JFCS board member and loyal advocate,

Jamie Janoff (honorary JFCS board member) and Beth Janoff Chananie (enthusiastic JFCS volunteer) of the Jewish Standard, and

Hazzan Ilan Mamber, z”l, the beloved cantor at Beth Rishon. Carol, Noah, and Aliza Mamber accepted the award on behalf of the chazan.

The evening opened with remarks from Suzette Diamond, one of the gala co-chairs, followed by a d’var Torah from Rabbi Arthur Weiner of Jewish Community Center of Paramus/Congregation Beth Tikvah.

Susan Greenbaum, CEO, and Debra Harris, president of the board, spoke about the vital services that JFCS provides for the community, including mental health, senior care and emergency services. Both speakers noted that—thanks to its supporters—JFCS is the safety net for families and children in northern New Jersey. JFCS also shared one of its success stories about a father who sought out therapy from JFCS for himself and his two daughters after the sudden death of his wife.

Net proceeds from this year’s event go directly to support the many programs of JFCS so that the organization can continue to help those in need in the northern New Jersey community.
