JFNNJ Holds Legislative Advocacy Day

The Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey held a legislative advocacy day on Tuesday, April 30, at the Hoboken offices of New Jersey’s 33rd legislative district.

Members of the Jewish Community Relations Committee of the Jewish Federation advocated on concerns and interests that are especially important to the Jewish Community, including a conversation on the rise of hate and bias, both close to home and across the nation. In the aftermath of the synagogue shooting near San Diego last week, members of the committee discussed the concrete measures Jewish Federation is taking to deal with the increased need for security at places of worship. The committee and Assemblywoman Chaparro discussed the ongoing need for communication and great partnerships that are already established with elected officials to continue to ensure the community is safe and secure in light of the rise in anti-Semitism and other occurrences of hate and bias crimes.

Among other matters discussed was the special relationship between the United States and Israel and the needs of the less fortunate and elderly in the community.

Jewish Community Relations Committee holds in person meetings with public officials on a monthly basis.
