(Courtesy of JFNNJ) Jewish Federation welcomed a delegation of community leaders from Nahariya, Israel, to Bergen County this past week. This exchange of adult community leaders is part of Federation’s Partnership2Gether program that connects Federation’s sister city of Nahariya with Bergen County. The group arrived last Thursday evening and returned to Israel on Monday. Their schedule was packed with opportunities to learn more about how Jews in the diaspora live and connect to Israel. The group visited the Frisch School and Tenafly High School to see the difference between a Jewish day school and a public school. They spent many hours with Federation’s Partnership2Gether planning committee to develop programming for the future.
According to Franci Steinberg, chair, Parnership2Gether Committee of Jewish Federation, “This is a great opportunity for our northern New Jersey committee to come together with our Israeli counterparts and plan Jewish Federation programming with our sister city of Nahariya. The Israeli leaders are also here to learn about our community and experience firsthand what life is like for American Jews living in the diaspora. It is important that we both understand each other’s community, challenges and priorities in order to make our exchange programming most impactful.”
The Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey is dedicated to preserving, fostering and securing a vibrant local Jewish community for today and beyond. We provide leadership, vision, guidance and the resources necessary to help those in need. Working collaboratively with donors, volunteers and other Jewish organizations, we are transforming lives together.
