(Courtesy of JFS Clifton-Passaic) Jewish Family Service of Clifton-Passaic is excited about a new collaboration between its senior department and the Alzheimer’s Association (AA). Rebecca Schochet LSW, program director for WINDS Café at JFS, recently completed her training as an Early Stage Social Engagement Leader with AA. Together with Robyn Kohn, director of programs and services at AA, they are working on developing the existing WINDS Café program to the next level. The goal is to integrate AA’s key components to this group of individuals, and to use AA’s network to increase participants. WINDS Café meets at JFS at 110 Main Avenue in Passaic on Tuesdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Additionally, JFS is working closely with AA to start a Caregivers Support Group. Schochet has been trained by Kohn in their special techniques to promote group cohesiveness among caregivers. They hope to provide caregivers with information and resources so they can take care of themselves in the best possible way. The first meeting will be on Thursday March 12, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, and the second meeting will be on Thursday, March 26, from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
Prior registration is required for both WINDS Cafe and the Caregiver Support Group. Please email [email protected] or call 862-233-1598 to register or for more information.
