JFSCNJ Plans Caregiver Conference for February 25

Jewish Family Service of Central NJ (JFSCNJ), a nonsectarian health and social service agency, will be hosting a caregiver conference called “Caring for a Loved One While Being Mindful of Your Own Needs” on Sunday, February 25, from 10:00 a.m. to noon, at the Jewish Family Service of Central NJ, Halpern Building, 655 Westfield Avenue, Elizabeth.

The conference, supported by a grant from the JFNA Center for Advancing Holocaust Survivor Care and The Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest Holocaust Survivor Fund, is open to the entire community at no charge. A continental breakfast will be served. Kosher dietary laws observed.

Family Caregiver Program Specialist Jennifer L. Rutberg, MSW, whose main focus is family caregiving, will be the guest speaker. She served as a senior program manager for the United Hospital Fund, and has worked for Daughters of Israel, Isaiah House, and Newark Beth Israel Medical Center’s geriatric assessment center and adult day health care. She received a master of social work degree, with a specialization in gerontology, from the University of Pennsylvania and is currently a caregiver program specialist for the NJ Division on Aging, Department of Human Services.

This program is made possible by federal funds through the JFNA Center for Advancing Holocaust Survivor Care. Approximately 48 percent of the project, or $160,000, comes from federal sources. Approximately 52 percent, or $173,333, comes from non-federal sources.
