JKHA kicked off Chanukah celebrations in meaningful and fun ways. Day one of Chanukah began with a Chanukah-themed Shabbat assembly for early childhood and lower school, getting everyone ready for the exciting days of the holiday. Middle school kicked off Chanukah with an eighth grade Chanukah tish and silent DJ, and a division-wide Chanukah Kahoot game. .

Early childhood and lower school joined on Monday for a Chanukah Chesed for JRA (Jewish Relief Agency). Early childhood baked cookies that were then packaged up by lower school with cards from all the students to be distributed through JRA. Bnot Sherut organized a Chanukah Carnival for lower school that was run by the eighth grade girls. Middle school went on a Chanukah STEM scavenger hunt around the building, and then treated themselves to make-your-own sufganiyot. There was excitement all day long for RKYHS “Chanukah Mania.” Over the course of the day, students got tickets from teachers for answering questions correctly, participation, ruach, kindness, etc, which they deposited into a bin. At three points throughout the day a different grade’s ticket was drawn to win the prize for that round, including a hot chocolate bar, cinnabon and sushi!
