The Bnot Sherut at JKHA were busy preparing for and celebrating Tu B’Shevat. Aside from decorating the building in festive decor, they planned all sorts of fun and engaging activities to learn about and celebrate Tu B’Shevat. In advance of the day they worked with each class to make special “chia heads” that will sprout grass when watered and cared for. They also opened their Prigat “juice bar” given its moniker from the beloved Israeli juices, and served up fruit juices and smoothies to students in all divisions.
The Bnot Sherut with the middle school Ivrit department led a Tu B’Shevat seder. Students said the brachot for each of the shivat haminim and were taught the order of the brachot for the seder. They learned all about Tu B’Shevat, the rosh hashanah for trees, as well as all the different rosh hashanahs—Rosh Hashanah for the new year, for the kings and for giving Maaser.
