Kushner middle school and high school students had the unique opportunity to learn from Ptil Tekhelet, the organization in Eretz Yisrael responsible for the rediscovery of techelet, the blue dye we are commanded to place on tzitzit. This hands-on presentation gave students the opportunity to learn about the history of techelet and its rediscovery, and to create their own dyed wool. The program was a perfect complement to the Judaic studies curriculum, reinforced students’ passion for the mitzvah of tzitzit and demonstrated that Torah is a Torat Chaim, a Torah that is strong and alive.
