As part of the 75th birthday celebration of Israel at JKHA art classes are studying Israeli artists. They have previously studied Agam and are now studying the works of Marc Chagall. The early childhood lower school and middle school divisions worked on a project focused on the Chagall stained glass windows that are located in Jerusalem’s Hadassah Hospital. Chagall’s art transforms time and space as beautiful light emanates from the 12 windows, the Torah serving as his primary inspiration for each window.
At JKHA students created their own Chagall inspired windows which are on display on the school atrium windows. Each detail of the 12 tribes were drawn to perfection by a group of seventh and eighth grade artists. Then, beautiful vibrant colors were painted or glued on with care onto each drawing, by all of the fourth and fifth grade students. The JKHA atrium is bright from the light and color that beams from these beautiful designs; six windows, each one detailing two tribes. Everyone can be proud of this collaborative work of art!
