As a continuation of the ongoing JKHA bar mitzvah programming, eighth grade boys were treated to a Tefillin making workshop by Rabbi Yisroel Rosenblum of Living Legacy. Through the use of visuals, students gained an in-depth understanding of what it takes to create a pair of tefillin starting from the hide all the way to the creation of intricate boxes and nuanced letters. Students understood that even a simple piece of leather has the ability to be elevated to a status of holiness. By gaining perspective on the detailed process that the making of tefillin entails, students will now have a greater appreciation for the mitzvah they are fortunate to perform every day.
